We all have desires that we want to manifest into our lives in different areas such as financial, health, relationships, materials and career.

Manifesting desires often feels like something only a few people can achieve.

If you feel this way, you are at the right place and let me show you how to change that.

"There is nothing to change but self" - Neville Goddard

The reason why you struggle to manifest your desires is because you overlook your self-concept.

You say that you want something but your concept of self is telling a completely different story. It's like trying to get to a certain destination with a boat, but the coordinates are set to a completely different destination.

The process will fail, however much you want to reach the destination.

You can have as many desires as you want, but if you don't take inventory of your self-concept, you will end up:

  • Struggling to manifest what you want, no matter how hard you try.
  • Seeing yourself as unworthy, incapable, or undeserving of your desires.
  • Constantly seeking approval and validation from others to feel happy or successful.
  • Allowing your past beliefs, experiences, and circumstances to define who you are.
  • Repeating the same patterns of failure and frustration without realizing the root cause.
  • Sabotaging your own progress because your self-concept isn’t aligned with your desires.
  • Doubting your ability to create change and resigning yourself to "fate."

Without a shift in self-concept, even the clearest desires and goals will remain out of reach.

I know this all too well because I’ve been there myself.

At the beginning of my personal development journey, when I discovered Neville Goddard and teachings about manifestation, I was eager to manifest my dreams and followed the advice I had learned. But looking back now, I realize I made a crucial mistake that held me back for years.

Back in 2018, I wrote a check to myself for 1 billion SEK (around $100 million), dated for my birthday in 2021. Now, as I reflect on this in late 2024, I realize I didn’t fully understand how manifestation truly works. I thought it would be easy, but I overlooked the most critical piece of the puzzle: aligning my self-concept with my desires.

When you master your self-concept, life stops feeling like a struggle. Manifestation becomes effortless, almost like a game where the rules are in your favour. You’ll no longer chase your desires, but instead, they will come to you naturally, aligned with the new version of yourself.

What is Self-Concept

Your self-concept is the foundation of all your desires. It's not just about the desires themselves but, more importantly:

  • How you view yourself.
  • How you believe the world perceives you.
  • How you feel about yourself in relation to your desires.

We have all been conditioned since young age belief in a certain way based on society, family and past circumstances.

Beliefs such as:

  • Success requires hard work and sacrifice
  • Opportunities are for other people
  • Only a lucky few get rich
  • Good things never last
  • Love is conditional

This doesn't mean that your beliefs are true, but they are there, deep engraved into your subconscious mind, and they control your current situation in life.

Changing your self-concept is a crucial step in the process of manifestation because how you perceive yourself influences your thoughts, actions and energy. These in turn impact the reality you're experiencing — who you are and what you have.

I will teach you how you easily can do this soon, but first, let’s take a look at some common mistakes that often hold people back.

Most people are mis-aligned with their desires. They desire something specific but their concept of themselves is telling a completely different story.

This misalignment often shows up in ways we don’t immediately recognise. Here are some common examples:

  1. You want financial freedom but subconsciously believe money is hard to come by.
  2. You want a loving relationship but see yourself as unworthy of love.
  3. You want success but feel incapable of handling responsibility.

Why Self-Concept is the key to Manifestation

Do you start to see the pattern here?

You can't want something, but subconsciously believe something completely different, not matter how many techniques you apply daily, how much you visualize or affirm.

This is where most people get stuck and if you read this, there is a chance that you probably can relate to this too. You have a desire but can't seem to stay in the desired state without emotionally react to the external world, with fear, resistance, doubt, limitations etc.

But when you master your self-concept, life stops feeling like a struggle. Manifestation becomes effortless.

“Change your conception of yourself and you will automatically change the world in which you live" - Neville Goddard

Changing the concept of yourself means changing the root of all your desires—not just one specific desire, but every desire tied to that specific area.

Let’s say you want to manifest financial stability, a higher salary, or freedom from debt. Instead of focusing on each outcome individually, you shift the root belief.

For example:

  • Money is easy to earn.
  • Money flows to me effortlessly.
  • I am worthy of higher sums of money.
  • I am economically free and abundant.

You don’t focus solely on a specific number, instead, you ensure that your root beliefs about money, how you see it and how you see yourself around it, are aligned with your specific desired outcome.

I used to struggle with making more money, especially achieving a specific salary I had in mind, until I realized that I didn’t feel worthy of that amount. I had been earning a low income for so long that my underlying beliefs and self-concept around having a higher salary were misaligned.

When I shifted my self-concept, everything began to flow effortlessly.

"But Tomas, how can I shift self-concept?"

Let me show you.

How to shift your self-concept and manifest your dream life

The first step to change your self-concept and manifest your dream life is to have a desire. If you don't know what you want, you don't know what to change.

But, there is a difference between what you think you want and what you truly want.

Ego Desire: "I want to be rich."
Why? Society teaches that wealth equals success. I believe money will bring respect, power, and security. I imagine that having more will solve my problems.
True Heart Desire: "I want to feel free."
Why? Deep down, I seek freedom, freedom to explore, live on my own terms, and control my time. It’s not about money, but the opportunities it creates. I want peace, connection with life, and a deeper purpose.
When we break it down:
The ego tends to focus on external markers of success, often driven by societal conditioning, comparison, or fear. It seeks things like wealth, fame, or power, thinking they will bring lasting happiness. The heart, on the other hand, focuses on internal fulfillment and connection. It seeks freedom, joy, love, and purpose, things that make us feel whole from within, rather than validated from the outside.

This distinction helps us realise that by aligning with the heart’s desire, we naturally move towards a life that feels more authentic, peaceful, and fulfilling. So keep that in mind when you define your desires.

When you’ve identified your true desire, not just the surface-level goal but the deeper, authentic calling, it’s time to take the first step in transforming your self-concept and aligning with the life you truly want.

Let’s dive into how to make that shift.

1) Inventory of Your Beliefs

Now that you’ve identified a specific desire you want to manifest, it’s time to uncover the beliefs surrounding it. Grab a pen and paper, or use a digital tool like your phone or computer, and write down every belief you have about this desire. Be as honest as possible, don’t hold anything back.

For example, let’s say you want to manifest an increase in your monthly salary, from $2,000 to $5,000. This is a number that resonates deeply with your true desires, not one driven by external motives like buying a new car to impress others.

Your beliefs around this might sound like:

  • I don’t feel worthy of earning this much money.
  • It takes many years to earn $5,000 a month.
  • No one around me has ever made this amount of money, so how can I?
  • Money is the root of all evil, and earning a lot might make me a bad person.

If it feels difficult to identify all your beliefs right away, don’t worry. This process doesn’t have to be perfect on your first try. Start by capturing whatever comes to mind, and allow more beliefs to surface naturally over time. The key is to begin, stay curious, and make yourself increasingly aware of the internal narratives shaping your life.

One of my favourite ways to uncover hidden or deeper beliefs is to pay attention to emotional triggers in my day-to-day life. These moments often reveal limiting beliefs that I hadn’t recognized during an initial reflection. By observing how you feel and react throughout the day, you can uncover even more insights into the beliefs that need rewriting.

2) Daily Awareness of Limiting Beliefs

"The unconscious constantly projects itself onto the world, and the world mirrors it back to us."Carl Jung

One of the best ways to uncover your hidden beliefs is to observe how you react emotionally to people, circumstances, and events in your daily life. Emotions like fear, doubt, resistance, or feelings of limitation often serve as clues, highlighting areas where subconscious beliefs are at play.

When you notice these emotional triggers, take a moment to reflect and trace them back to the underlying belief that may have been formed in the past. Awareness is the first step to rewriting those beliefs.

Here is an example:

  • You receive an unexpected bill, and a surge of anxiety takes over. Upon reflection, you uncover a belief like "I’ll never have enough money" or "I’m not good with finances." This belief could have formed during childhood if you witnessed financial struggles or were told that money is hard to come by.

By identifying the belief behind the emotional response, you can begin to rewrite it into something empowering, such as:

  • "Money comes to me with ease."
  • "I always have more than enough."
  • "I am confident in managing my finances."

This is how you transform your self-concept and underlying beliefs at their core, one by one. Now, let’s explore how to rewrite these beliefs and fully embody your desires.

3) Rewrite and Embody Your Desire

There’s no one "right" way to rewrite a belief into an affirmation, but here are some important guidelines to consider when crafting your affirmations:

  • Focus on the opposite of your limiting belief - Ask yourself: How would I feel if the opposite of this belief were true?
  • Visualize the end result - Imagine your desire as a present fact. What would the end scenario look and feel like if this were already true?
  • Resonate with the tone - Write your affirmation in a way that feels authentic and empowering to you.
  • Write in the present tense - Affirmations should reflect the present reality you are creating, not something that might happen in the future. "I am" is far more powerful than "I will be."

For example, let’s say you want to rewrite the limiting belief:"I’ll never have enough money."

Ask yourself:

  • How would it feel to have more than enough money?
  • What would my life look like if this were already true?

An affirmation for this could be:

  • "I am so grateful and happy that money flows to me easily and abundantly."
  • "I always have more than enough for all my needs."

These affirmations reflect the opposite of the limiting belief and allow you to embody the feeling of abundance in the present moment.

You will find a way to make this speak to you directly, using language that resonates with you. The most important thing is that you feel a genuine shift in your state of consciousness. You’ll know you’ve shifted when the limiting belief no longer bothers you, and instead, you feel calm, at ease, and confident.

4) Mental Diet

How can we make sure that we always stay in the desired state? Through a Mental Diet.

If you can guard your mind like a gardener, you’ll only need to focus on the times when you feel out of state. In other words, when you start to doubt your desire, engage in negative self-talk, or feel overwhelmed. That’s when affirmations become your tools to realign and bring yourself back to the desired state.

There’s a good chance you’ll fall out of state many times in the beginning. This happens because some of our beliefs are so deeply engraved in our subconscious that it takes consistent effort and re-affirmation to change the patterns. But if you persist, guard your mind daily, and remain committed, a shift will happen.

It’s not just about manifesting your desires, but about mastering your inner world:

  • Cultivating unshakable confidence and self-belief.
  • Finding joy and peace in the present moment.
  • Gaining control over your emotions and reactions.
  • Realizing that you are the creator of your reality, and your external world is a reflection of your internal state.

5) Last Step: The Natural Release

How do you know you’ve shifted your state of consciousness? When you no longer feel the need or longing for your desire. Instead, you feel calm, assured, and convinced that it’s already done. You’re no longer giving attention to worry or doubt, because you trust that the outer world will reflect your inner change in perfect timing.

As Neville Goddard said, "Release the need to control." When your self-concept shifts, your specific desire feels natural and effortless. This is the final step in the process, recognizing when your beliefs about a specific area or desire have aligned with the state of fulfillment.

How Do You Know You’ve Shifted?

You know you’ve shifted when:

  • You no longer feel a sense of longing or attachment to your manifestation.
  • Doubts, fears, resistance, and emotional reactions to external events have faded.
  • You feel a deep sense of fulfillment and assurance, as though your desire is already true.
  • The belief supporting your desire feels natural and effortless.

This state of inner conviction shows that you’ve successfully embodied the feeling of your wish fulfilled.

What Comes Next

Once you’ve shifted, you no longer need to affirm daily for that specific desire. Instead, maintain a mental diet by noticing if you ever fall back into a state of lack. When this happens, simply shift back to the state of fulfillment through affirmations or other tools.

Even if you feel ready to let go of a specific desire and focus on a new one, it can be helpful to continue a daily affirmation practice. This keeps your self-concept aligned with a state of abundance and fulfillment, supporting all your desires. I call these "umbrella affirmations" because they cover multiple desires and beliefs at once, creating a strong foundation for your self-concept.
